born in 1818 at Swansea Hopkin dies at the age of 34 in October 1851.
He died at Bridgend, Pentre, Swansea. Ann is believed to have re-married at
a later date to someone called Evans although I cannot trace the marriage.
They had six children:-
1. Lancelot (or Lance or Llancet (Welsh)) MORT b.1840 married Mary Hughes on
29.4.1861 at Llansamlet after Banns. Lancelot was born at Pistill Row, Green
Hill Swansea on 4.12.1838 and I believe baptised in 1840

date unknown right now. They lived in Swansea Higher and latterley in
Patriot Road, Brynhyfryd.

at the Gorse Colliery, Cockett in 1857 and is buried in Llangyfelach Church

25.6.1901 at Llantrissant, Glamorgan after Banns. John was also known as
"Jack" and was a Rugby Union player of some repute, having been offered
professional terms to play for the Rugby League (I will explain this if necessary)
He turned them down as his wife objected to the move North. He worked in the
local Iron Works for some years, and then worked in the Coal Industry.
He left the Industry and became landlord of two public houses th the mining
valleys. Jack died 21.1.1939. His wife Mary died in a village called

While going through Microfilm Rolls at Waldomore in Clarksburg, W.VA. looking
for returns containing Nutter information, I found two returns for Mort
family. These questionaires were sent out in 1920's and 1930's by Guy Tetrick
, who was a county clerk and interested in family history.
I will send these to see if they are of any use to you. I had spoken to Linda
Zahm a few years ago about death of Thomas Nutter. A lady who writes for
Pennsboro newspaper is researching his death and his3 brothers as possibly
connected to the underground railroad. All were murdered and no one arrested.

I ran across some Martn/Hershey info and thought I'd send this along.
This came from a newspaper article I found in a trunk at the Martin Farm. It
was from a newspaper clipping talking about her 98th birthday which was going
to be celebrated.
Clement married Margaret on December 18, 1888 in Saltillo, Huntington County, PA
They lived most of their married life in Altoona, PA I know that is true
because I have a letter from my Uncle Ray when was inducted into the Army in
1917 talking to his mother about his Uncle Clem at the train in Altoona. The
article says he worked for the railroad for 52 years.
At the time of her birthday Nov 12, 1964 she was living in the Allegheny
Lutheran Home in Johnstown, PA
Her kids were listed as:
2 Infants
Aubrey G. Nonemaker
G. Linten Nonemaker
Edna Nonemaker married to Russell Haulman
Lula Nonemaker married to Ellsworth Winters
Pauline Nonemaker married to Melvin Miller
Bessie Nonemaker married to Smith

Twin Falls ... Ronald Mort, Sr. - 1927-2002 Ronald Mort, Sr., 75, of Twin Falls died Thursday, September 26, 2002, at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho. Ron was born June 3, 1927, in Twin Falls, the son of Rollie Lee and Mary Edith Worrell Mort. He grew up and attended schools in Twin Falls and Jerome, however during this time WWII broke out, so Ron left home and enlisted in the Army. He served his country in the European Theatre. During this time, he married his first wife, Janet and to this union were born five children. They returned together to the United States, but then were divorced and she returned to England with four of their children. Ron then married Mayota Meunier in Elko, Nevada and they spent the next twenty-five years of their lives together until she passed away in 1992. On November 13, 1993, in Twin Falls, Idaho, he married Lillimae Hine Sharrai, his devoted and loving wife. Upon returning to Twin Falls, Ron worked mostly for Joe Mendiola and various service stations, before working full time for Volco. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, golf, gardening, camping and telling jokes. He had a soft spot in his heart for kids and dogs. Sebring Council taps Carl Mort as new mayor
By JACK R. WEBER Jr.
|
SEBRING Sebring Mayor Carl Mort never expected to be in his new position.
He certainly never wanted to be thrust into it under the circumstances, following the sudden death of Daphne Cannell Wednesday.
I never thought about being the mayor, said Mort, who was sworn in Monday by village solicitor Andrew Zumbar as the 25th person in Sebring to hold the post.
Mayor Cannell had been at every meeting I was ever at and when I was elected as president pro tem, the worst case scenario I ever thought Id have to face was possibly chairing a meeting. He now intends to carry on Cannells vision.
During my service on council, I feel Cannell and I had developed a special relationship, Mort told council. We had many discussions of what needed to be done to improve Sebring to make it an even better place to live and raise a family. As mayor, I am going to continue to work very hard to help fulfill her vision of a better tomorrow, but I know I have a large pair of shoes to fill. With the help of God and the people of Sebring, I know we will succeed.
Sebring council is certainly in transition with a new mayor, four first-year council members and two council members who have been appointed in the last two months. Morts swearing in came just 41 days after he as elected as president pro tem, following the May 13 resignation of Bob Crewson, who was replaced with the appointment of Joe Igro.
On Monday, council appointed Joe Amabeli to fill the unexpired council term of Mort. Both the mayoral term of Mort and council term for Amabeli will expire in 2003.
Meanwhile, Igro, who had served two terms on council prior to his appointment in May, was elected as president pro tem. His term will expire in 2003.
I miss mayor Cannell and I will look to her memory for example, said Mort. It was an honor to have known her and it will be an honor to fulfill the rest of her term. Mort briefly memorialized Cannell, who was serving her second term. He said she was the first female mayor of Sebring as well as a charter member of the Sebring Historical Society and a past president of the Fire Department Auxiliary.
